Sean Pierson, a native of Toronto, Canada, was announced in mid-February as a competitor in Bellator’s Season 2 welterweight tournament.

Pierson, who was considered to be one Canada’s top unsigned fighters in his weight class, will begin the tournament in the midst of a four-fight win streak.

No stranger to combat sports, he has won both the Canadian Senior National Greco-Roman Championship and the Canadian University Freestyle Wrestling Championship. More recently, he has garnered extensive training in the art of Jiu-Jitsu and has begun training at the famed Grant Brothers MMA gym in North York, Ontario.

Pierson has been fighting professionally for the past decade and has compiled an overall record of 9-4. Each of his last four wins has come via stoppage in the first round.  His most recent fight was also his shortest, coming to an end via KO after just 1:41 into Round 1.

Pierson will join a gauntlet of talented 170 lbs. competitors when Bellator’s Season 2 welterweight tournament gets underway in April.  The winner of the eight-man tournament will emerge as the No.1 contender and will earn a title match against current Bellator Welterweight World Champion Lyman Good.

The 33-year-old Pierson, a married father of a 17-month-old son, will be fighting from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
