Finland’s finest, Janne Tulirinta, brings an international component to Bellator’s Season 2 lightweight tournament.

Tulirinta has risen to worldwide prominence over the past two years through his participation in the M-1 Challenge.  The Scandinavian, who also works as a police officer in his homeland, has posted a 6-1 record while under the M-1 banner.

Tulirinta is a fierce grappler who has honed his striking to make him a serious threat at 155 lbs. His talent was most recently on display during an M-1 event in Kansas City, Mo., this past June when he took just 11 seconds to drop welterweight Anthony Ford and finish him with strikes on the ground.

In April, Tulirinta will compete in Bellator’s single elimination eight-man lightweight tournament.  The Finnish fighter joins the likes of Ferrid “Hurricane” Kheder, Carey Vanier, Chad Hinton and Mike Ricci for the chance to emerge as the top contender and earn the right to a title fight versus Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez.
