Bellator lightweight  Mike Ricci could prove to be a unique challenger in Bellator’s upcoming Season 2 tournament. The 155 lbs. Canadian is not only a training partner of premiere welterweight Georges Saint-Pierre, but has also quickly developed a reputation as a supremely well-rounded competitor. Ricci will have the chance to preserve his perfect record while pursing a chance to face off against Eddie Alvarez for the Bellator Lightweight World Championship title.

The 23-year-old Ricci enters the tournament with an unblemished pro record of 5-0. Based out of Montreal, Canada, Ricci currently trains alongside GSP under the famed Firas Zahabi at his TriStar gym in Montreal. Zahabi has called Ricci “the next big thing” to come out of Canada adding that, much like GSP, Ricci brings a well-rounded approach to the cage that draws upon extensive training in Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. Ricci also trains regularly with the Canadian Olympic wrestling team, which has helped hone his defensive skills.

Ricci will make his Bellator tournament debut when the tournament gets underway in early April 2010. He will compete against top competition in the 155 lbs. division of the tournament alongside seven other title hopefuls for the chance to emerge as the No. 1 contender and enter a title match against current Bellator Featherweight Champion Eddie Alvarez.
