Q & A
Who or what inspires you?
Every time I go through something difficult I think about my family and all the people I know who roots for my success, but the biggest desire really comes from me!
What do you do in your spare time, when you’re not preparing for a fight?
I never stop training but I do try to live a normal life. I enjoy hanging out with my family, having fun with my girlfriend and friends. I enjoy going to the circus, parks, movies, and beaches when I can.
If you were describing yourself as a fighter, what would you say?
Explosive in the right time, and very cautious, don’t rush things without thinking. And the owner of a desire to win that is so large that few people can imagine it.
What does it mean to you to be fighting for Bellator Fighting Championships?
I’m very happy with Bellator. I make a living off of what I love to do, and being in this organization is a big honor for me.
What are your thoughts on the Tournament Format?
To me it’s the more of a deserving way because the real number one contender wins the title shot. Not the favorite. You give a clear path to fighters, we know that winning the tournament grants us a title shot and no one can take that from us.
What would it mean to you to become a Bellator World Champion?
The biggest accomplishment I achieved in my life. It would be my dream come true.
In 3 years, where do you see yourself?
Defending the world title.
Which victory are you most proud of in your career?
All my victories have a huge value, I really can’t pick just one.
What is your message to aspiring fighters that dream of fighting on a big stage?
If you are a person of positivity and never back down from negative situations, you are capable of accomplishing whatever. Keep going forward and believe in yourself! The one who believes always gets it!
What’s the one thing you are most proud of that you’ve accomplished so far in your life?
The Bellator tournament title.
How did you get into fighting and when/where was your very first pro fight?
I always wanted to fight. Almost every day I would fight on the street, and even against my brother and friends. My father thought that by putting me and my brother into jiu jitsu classes would give us the discipline we were lacking. My first fight was in March 9th, 2004 against a guy 12 years older than me. I was 16 and won by TKO.
In a perfect scenario, what would be your favorite way to end a fight?
I like it when the opponent drops unconscious on my feet. Knock out.
