Q & A
What do you do in your spare time, when you’re not preparing for a fight?
Taking care of my family. I have two little one so I love just being at home watching them grow and spending time with them.
If you were describing yourself as a fighter, what would you say?
Violently intense. There is just so much intensity behind my fighting.
What does it mean to you to be fighting for Bellator Fighting Championships?
It’s an organization that gave me an opportunity to fight and gave me a chance to be a Champion.
What does it mean to be a Bellator World Champion?
It shows that I am hard worker and that I can meet goals and reach huge accomplishments. I put all I have into this, and it paid off.
In 3 years, where do you see yourself in MMA?
Extremely dominate at all levels, and I wouldn’t want to be in the same weight class. I should be a Champion and an Olympic Gold Medalist, and standing at the top of MMA mountain.
Which victory are you most proud of in your career?
Eric Marriot really put me in a lot of danger, and I was able to fight through it. The Soto win was obviously huge, as I had to refocus after round 1, and then got the victory.
Are you married and do you have any kids?
Two beautiful kids and a wonderful loving wife.
What is your message to aspiring fighters that dream of fighting on a big stage?
Never hold anything back. You may only have one chance at this, so give it all you have, every single time.
What’s the one thing you are most proud of that you’ve accomplished so far in your life?
I am beyond proud of my family. I’ve been so lucky with everything, and so proud to see what I have in my life.
In a perfect scenario, what would be your favorite way to end a fight?
The same way I’m going to end every one of my fights. Drop someone to the ground, and end the fight with a KO.
