Q & A
What do you do in your spare time, when you’re not preparing for a fight?
Hang out, read books, travel, disc golf

If you were describing yourself as a fighter, what would you say?
A work in progress

What does it mean to be a Bellator Champion?
It means I’m progressing towards a goal in mixed martial arts

What are your thoughts on the Tournament Format?
Love the Tournament format, its great!

In 3 years, where do you see yourself?
I see myself as a well rounded fighter with a lot better stand up and hopefully a Black belt in BJJ

Which victory are you most proud of in your career?
Hornbuckle fight! I came in as a huge underdog, but I really came out and took it to him. It was really a loud and clear signal that I was here and had arrived.

What is your message to aspiring fighters that dream of fighting on a big stage?
Be ready to put in the work, and if you want to be successful. You really have to spend hours and hours in the gym doing the dirty work. I’ve seen so many guys think it will be easy, and it is not at all.

What’s the one thing you are most proud of that you’ve accomplished so far in your life?
Winning the first NCAA Championship. I worked so many years for that, and came up short the previous two years, so winning was incredibly rewarding.

How did you get into fighting and when/where was your very first pro fight?
I had friends that were getting into MMA, so it just seemed like a good fit. I’m still a work in progress, but no complaints.

In a perfect scenario, what would be your favorite way to end a fight?
Easy, choking someone out very fast!
